SB 1005 by Sen. Ricardo Lara (D-Bell Gardens), was recently put on hold by the Senate Committee on Appropriations. The bill, sometimes referred to as the “Health4All” plan, seeks to provide health care coverage for California’s undocumented population.
A recent study conducted by University of California, Berkeley researchers found that the plan would benefit the state overall at a relatively low cost (about 2% more than the state’s current Medi-Cal expenses).
